So, here I am. Back in my appartment. No tent tonight. I still don't know, if this is good or not.

As every time when I come back from such an experience of beeing away for a long time, I feel like falling into a hole.

However, nature was so nice to make a little connection between holidays and home: a rainbow appeared yesterday just bevor leaving Helsinki, and today while landing at Vienna.

For those who are interested in Photos and Stories: From now to ??? I'm going to upload and tell some stories about the trip. They will appear with wrong date, just to be here in top. Date will be written into the text.

Ya, and this is the beginning of the end...

Two more days here in Helsinki, then I'm going back home... incredible... Today I bought a T-Shirt: "I dont want to be here" - Guess when I'm going to wear it...

I'm going to miss those days of travelling without thinking where to be when... I could tell stories that could fill a whole book, but it is difficult to just write them down in a few minutes. Too much happend...

However, I'm in a hurry today, therefore only the promise to make a little documentation of this trip when back in Austria (for all those who can't just call to invite themselves to coffee and finnish sweets...), to tell I'm fine (for all those who didn't know on other ways) and to show you, I didn't forget you all (yes, there are thinks I'm looking forward as well... ;o)

Hi there, so now I'm at the camping, Internet is for free, so I can tell you now... but the truth is, I can't tell you! There were so much impressions and feelings all at once, it was hard!

So, starting from Oulu I went up to Rovaniemi, then via Pokka to lake Inari. I guess everyone meeting me will just hear a lot of Pokka... I had a very nice conversation with the owner of the bar/restuarant, where I was living in a real finnish mökki (cottage), hat some special lapland food, and very intersting news from living in lapland. Great evening, thank you Kari!

The way from Kaamanen to Norway was hard, ups and downs of 8 and 10 %! But nature was changing, and how! love this norwayan fjord-landscape! Next day I stopped at the supermarket at Lakselv, and very courious I was looking at a bike to lay on, when his owner came along, also having some food at the supermarket, also for travelling to the northcape, also for seeing the solar eclipse... So, why not travelling together? Mathieu and I, we had a nice ride for about 60 km to the next camping, where we met just some other people by bike. I have been travelling for 14 days, and in whole finland I only met one biketraveller, and now... the other two german guys just have been to the northcape, and told me horrible stories about "The Tunnel" (with Maiuskel!) that leads to mageroya...

However, the next day we REALLY managed to reach north cape! (Thank you, Mathieu, once more...) Right in time for maybe seeing the solar eclipse and the midnight sun.
we tried to get a ferry, and there was really a time table! so lets have a look
Mathieu: "We missed the ferry for 10 minutes!"
Me, having a closer look: "Yes 10 minutes and nine years..."
So we arrived there, through The Tunnel, (that seemed harder in stories then in truth...), I really didn't expect it to be SO cold...
71 degree Nord, 7,1 degree Celsius
something like that...
Nevertheless we put up our tents ... in the middle of nowhere. For me the first time, glad not to be alone with this experience.

The next day, waiting for the solar eclipse to come (and for not freezing too much), we decided to go by foot to the "real" northcape, not the touristic one, and finally we had our own "northcape" But nature is so great! loved this walk of some hours very much.

Nevertheless, as they told me, there is going a bus back to Inari (didn't want to do the same street again) at one o'clock in the night, we packed our things, went back to Honningsvåg, for getting some information. The information was finally that the bus leaves at 5.10 instead, having a break of 4 hours. So Mathieu and I had the same fate: passing the night... however... His ferry would leave at 6.15, so... After the bar has closed (2 am) we ended in the "house" of a bus stop, onto an Isomat, under a sleeping bag, waiting for the morning to come... It felt strange, because it were just two days and a half that we spent together, but we had so lots of things in common, ending in dialougs like:
M: Do you like the end pieces of bread?
A: Yes, I love them.
M: Thats what I guessed...
A: Because you love them as well...
However, time went on, bus came, i got on it, and ... just nothing. felt empty. even if there was an austrian guy, living in Helsinki for one year now (Erasmus) Talking for about one hour, then I fell asleep. Just for to wake up in Lakselv...

Since Inari I'm on my way again, alone, but with many impressions and thoughts carrying with me. weather here in the "south" isn't much warmer then at mageroya, but its ok. Fine weather for travelling, because if you stand still, you start freezing...

Thats the story from northcape, rest will follow. now i just will note some thoughts going through my mind the last few days...

Maybe you were asking, if I got lost: the answer is: no, i'm fine.
didn't get lost nor in finland neither in norway, only in my thoughts, but thats ok, as there is no map for my brain.

I'm now at sodankylä touristinformation just for to say I'm ok.
Northcap was great and cold! I'll really have to tell you later, as I can use this computer only for ten minutes.

Besides, as you see I startet now blogging in english, as there are some people asking me, if I'm blogging. As most of those people don't speak german, I'll do it now in english.

Rentiere halten sich nicht an "Achtung, Rentierzucht"-Schilder, ich begegnete ihm schon davor.

Ansonsten gehts gut, Motivationstief überstanden, Sonne ist wieder da.

Heute bin ich endlich in Lappland, morgen werde ich den Polarkreis überschreiten. Ist spannend hier! Von Parkplätzen mit "WC"-Latrinen, in denen bereits Wespennester sich breit machen; es wird langsam wirklich "wild" hier. Nicht umsonst heisst es von Oulu "der letzte Stop vor der Wildnis". Bin heute den ganzen Tag geradelt, ohne ein einziges Mal an einem Geschäft vorbeizukommen. So musste ich mir hier etwas auftischen lassen, von dem ich nicht wusste, was es sein wuerde, denn hier spricht man nicht englisch. weder gestern noch heute, es ist schwierig, aber man kommt mit Freundlichkeit immer weiter.

6einhalb Tage Radfahren - heute mal Pause.

Ich bin gerade in Oulu, eine nette Dame im Kaffeehaus borgt mir ihren Computer, damit ich mal schauen kann, was es neues gibt. Welcome to Finland!

Seit 2einhalb Tagen regnet es. Hat den Vorteil, dass man nicht ständig was zu schauen hat. denn sobald die Sonne rauskommt, verfalle ich in einen tranceartigen Zustand: "Ist das SCHÖN hier!", so konnte ich bisher meinen Reiseplan einhalten. Denn obwohl ich vorgestern noch einen Tag zurücklag, habe ich heute schon wieder aufgeholt. wie ich das gemacht habe? die Campingplätze, die eingezeichnet waren, haben nicht existiert, und so musste ich weiterfahren... jeden Tag bisher zwischen 100 und 130 km. (und wie gesagt: wenn es regnet, gibts nur eins: Kopf runter und angasen... manches mal habe ich mir gedacht, wenn jetzt ein Elch auf der STrasse stehen wuerde, ich wuerde einfach anfahren...) Geht ja...

Zu Finnland: Die Walderdbeeren pflückt man von direkt neben der Landstrasse, denn so wenig Abgase sehen die nicht mal bei der Oma im Garten. Selbst abgeholzter Wald wirkt nicht öde und traurig, nein, hier haben bunte Wiesenblumen die Gelegenheit zu spriessen und zu wachsen. Alles strahlt ich satten, kräftigen Farben, ob es jetzt der Weizen ist, der sich in sattem Grün wiegt, oder die Seen, die durch die Birken durchschimmern, es ist einfach schön. Wenn ich mal gross bin, uebersiedle ich nicht nach Oberösterreich sondern nach Finnland ;o)

Einzig und alleine: ich habe unterschätzt, dass es so viel schöne natur gibt, im gegensatz dazu gibts fast keine Städte, zumindest nicht auf der Route, die ich gewählt habe. Alle Städte, die in meinen Karten eingezeichnet sind, entpuppen sich als kleine Dörfchens, in denen es gerade mal einen Supermarkt, und wenns gut geht, noch ne pizzeria gibt. macht auch nix. nur kann ich dann halt selten schreiben, was sich tut.

Es lebt sich seltsam, so ohne Tagesrhythmus, der von der Sonne vorgegeben wird. bisher, wann immer ich aufgewacht war oder munter war: es ist hell! Die Sonne geht nach 23 uhr mal unter, von finster keine Rede, und um 3 uhr geht sie wieder auf. ich glaube, wenn ich dann mal am Nordkapp bin, muss ich eine Nacht durchmachen und mir das live geben. Ich stelle mir jeden Tag einen Wecker um 8.30, nur damit ich, wenn ich aufwache, sicher weiss, dass es noch zeit zum schlafen ist...

Meine Ausrüstung, die ich mir ja wild zusammengekauft habe, und zum grossteil mitgenommen habe, ohne einmal auszuprobieren, hält, was sie verspricht. REgen: kein Problem. Rad: kein Problem. Zelt: superwasserdicht. DAnke an dieser STelle an Goretex...

Einzig und alleine meine Knie machen mich ein bisschen verrückt, jeden Tag tut ein anderes weh. Da kommen dann immer Gedanken auf wie: Was passiert, wenn der Wille stärker ist als der Körper? "Weiterfahren!" "Ja, aber, wir tun wahrscheinlich nicht umsonst weh..." "Wurscht: Weiterfahren!" Spätestens wenn ich im KH zur OP angemeldet bin, weiss ich, dass der Wille ohne Körper nicht kann... ;o) aber ich glaube, so verrueckt bin nicht mal ich. wir werden sehen.

Impressionen und Bilder kann ich zur Zeit auch nicht liefern, da es mir nicht gelingt, den Finnisch eingestellten Computer dahin zu bedienen, dass er die Fotos von meiner Kamera liest. Naja, umso spannender wird es für euch nachher sein... ;o) Vielleicht gelingt es mir ja mal, wenn ich tatsächlich in einen Internetkaffee sitze, und nicht auf einem geborgten laptop...

Wuenscht mir trotzallem ein bisschen ein schöneres Wetter, einfach weil ich gerne mehr von der Landschaft als von den Strassen sehen wuerde...
